Grant Lyle is one of Canada's favourite power soul-blues performers, capturing the authentic old style blues in a captivating and fresh style. From intimate venues to main stage performances, Grant Lyle has consistently enthralled audiences with his ceaseless dedication and care to the music he plays. His latest endeavour, [retronym], is a departure from his previous electric albums. Produced in the aptly named town of Utopia, Ontario, this entirely acoustic recording transcends the listener through eras and emotions. Grant’s rich vocals and proficient yet subtle guitar are accompanied by two major weights in the Canadian music scene – Michael Sloski on percussion and Roly Platt on harmonica. This project is yet another example of Grant’s technical aptitude and dexterity in his pursuit for truth and beauty through music. Over the years Grant has received a great deal of media attention, including television appearances on Breakfast Television, CKVR, OnTV, CityTV, and CBC. His CD's have received local airtime on CJRT, CBC, CIUT, CKLN, CKVS and others. And, throughout the world his music is heard in a variety of countries including Russia, France, England, USA, and Spain. Grant can also be heard on the Internet through local and international podcasts. He has been favourably reviewed in numerous publications including the National Post, Toronto Star, Toronto Blues Society, Exclaim!, and Blues On Stage as well as many other magazines, e-zines, local papers and journals. Grant Lyle was recently recognized as one of the top 10 Canadian blues artists by Real Blues Magazine based in British Columbia. When he’s not playing live or working on original material, Grant can often be found practicing on his recently acquired piano or perfecting his mother’s recipe for chicken noodle soup. |
